Spacer needed for SufferRing on '02 XTR cranks?

So, does a Jericho spiderless chainring just slide right onto XTR cranks and perfectly replace the shimano spider, or is some sort of spacer needed? If so, what works? I have duct tape, and bobby pins. And gum.
I checked the Jericho website, but it was no help. On this (and any other) subject it says:

"Sorry, this site is temporarily unavailable.

    Ta.

    Cool, thanks.

I have one. It's been laying around for a while as I accumulate other parts for a project. I'm planning to stop by a store on the way home from work and the get the shimano spider thingy removal tool device, so I thought it would be an opportunity to get a spacer or two if needed.

-Ethan, tell him that thing about how you align them...I think one of the prongs aligns with the crankarm, right?
