    soma smoothie

i want to convert my smootie into a commuting SS machine. I would ultimately like to do this without a chain tensioner and I am wondering if there is an eccentric bottom bracket that would work. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Scott

The now-defunct Forward Components made a quality eccentric--you might want to watch for it on the used market. Otherwise your only options are this and this.

Another option is magic gear ratio. Use this:

I believe your chainstay length is 410mm. Couple of the gears may work, depending on what you need.

Thanks for the ideas! I am still up in the air, I might leave it as a road bike and source a different frame, but it is always good to have options. Thanks, Scott
