    Snow rides are da BEST!!!!

Out early before the heavy stuff comes in. Theres about 3 inches packed on the trails here at Avalon. 5 of us, 3 on SS's. Perfect traction with my fattyboombattys 2.4's! 8-12 inches coming in, so this might be it for awhile. Some of my favorite rides have been been in the snow.

I went for a ride this morning myself before the snow really started to come down. Course it was a fixie ride throught the "downtown" towson area. Lots of fun, and lots of odd looks. Might be attempting a trail ride tomorrow however.

Just got in from a ride here in MA ... we're into the "three inches an hour" of snowfall.

It was good times. I love how much brighter the snow keeps everything.

And my eyebrows were only mostly frozen to my eyewear when I tried to remove them ...

Some dude I met out there said 24-30 inches. That sounds a bit exaggerated - but even so, looks like I'll be cross country skiing tomorrow ... woo hoo ...

I waited a bit too long to get out on my ride. I was fighting my way through about 6" of the white stuff. I still managed about 15 mile, 10 on virgin trails and 5 on the road to get to and from the trail.

I totally hate you guys, all I'm getting here is rain. (Netherlands)
But thanks for the inspring pics anyway.

I like how rims build up like they're high-profile carbons. I wonder, would a Zipp rim like some use with discs build up less with snow?

Were you at the trailhead at 8:30? I think I recognize that bike, probably asked you about a rider I was meeting. Great time out there, trails were sweet.

we had a sweet snow ride yesterday am at Fairhill. Big Ole Group. Trails were perfect, the snow added to the fun and made them that much more technical, that much more fun. I tried to post some pictures but they were too large... Check 'em out here:

We were at the small parking area on Landing about 9. Trails were Great. We did run into 2 guys on IF 29's SS's. Had a pooch with them. The falls at Cascade were stunning!!!!
Maybe we'll get allot of hikers out to pack the snow a little, or its going to be tough going for awhile.

Rosaryville was fun today too, though a little sunnier.

    Dang it was cold.

    Love snow riding!

Coupla pics from last weekend. Rode some snowmobile tracks in the Cascade Lakes area, then some packed-down doubletrack in the Bend Badlands east of town.

If you ride with Todd, and he gets way ahead like he used to with me, he'll write little messages in yellow for you to follow. Frickin' hilarious. Would have been funnier if he would have stuck it against the top tube. BTW, it was 70 in town, and 60 where I was out in the SantaRita moutains.

I rememeber leaving messages in the snow, like which way we went. I don't remember them being yellow, that must have been a different ride??
I also remember trying to ride through that 3 foot drift, can you say OTB!

A scene from Tyler, TX last year in Feb.

Everything was just perfect and not another rider anywhere to be found!

    Fresh powder

over ice and frozen mud makes for a great ride (with studs). Zero degrees, but steamin' after a climb. My Stumpy SS and my buddies default Giant SS (frozen cables).
