    SISS Owners..Newbie needs help.

    Hi,

Can somone offer me some direction on how to tension the chain on a SISS? The bike has seen quite a bit of use lately and I have noticed some sag in the chain. I never got any instructions, so I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing. Also, how do I know when the chain is at the correct tension?

    Thanks for the help..

    well here's what I do.
Loosen the axle bolts, and chain tensioners, but don't remove. Pull the wheel back a little in the dropout. Make sure the wheel is lined up straight,. Make small adjustments with the chain tensioners, and tighten down the bolts. This might take some practice and some fidgeting, but after you do it many times, it will be second nature.

The chain needs to have about 1/2" deflection, for good tension. When you turn the cranks, there will probably be some variation in the tension during the revolution, cause the chainwheel and cog are not perfectly round. But, in a perfect world, 1/2" deflection is good., upper and lower.
