singlespeed freewheel for a suntour hub - to bother or not!

Hey all. I'm very much a singlespped beginner - hence this being my first post and all.
Wondering if anyone can give me some pointers on this one - I've always used Shimano cassettes and locknut setups, but in the process of building my singlespeeder for as little as possible I've been given a suntour complete rear wheel assembly with a freewheel rather than the cassette and lockring set up I'm used to.
So I'm wondering what I do to convert this to a singlespeeder - as I'm intended on buying something like on one's conversion kit http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/SKOOSSKK...h-16t-sprocket) which comes with a lockring - or rather works with the shimano style hub.
I guess what I'm asking is - do I buy something like this: http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/SKSHBMX/...-bmx-freewheel and how do I fix up my rear assembly - do I use spacers with this assembly and does it stay put without the lockring?
I've yet to get the freewheel off as I've not got the right tool either - or do I just pass up the free wheel and go Shimano style?

Cheers, hope someone can point this newbie in a right direction.
