    Scottish Single Speed Championships 2010

The 2010 Scottish Single Speed Championships are on again.

26 and 27th of June 2010. Nice and easy, just 12 hours riding overnight in mid summer. We are far enough north that there will only be a few hours when lights will be needed.

As usual it will be run alongside the StrathPuffer Lite, so get your entries in now, because the solo class fills up really quickly. Entries are handled here - pick the solo class in the StrathPuffer Lite and then contact us here so we know who's coming.

    Usual camping on site etc.

We have run it for the last 2 years as a category in first the "Dawn Raid" and last year in the "StrathPuffer Lite".

There's nothing of substance on the web because we are riders rather than web wizards, and we're not that great at organising things. Hence running within someone else's race, and also because the costs of running a separate event is beyond our finances.

It is 12 hours of real racing though (rather than a beer and fun run). The idea is to come along and race until the wheels drop off your bike or your legs give up, and no shame if you don't last the full 12 hours.

As a bonus, if you trounce the gearies running in the softie categories of the StrathPuffer Lite, there's usually a fine incentive prize on top of 1st for any ss rider who beats all the gearies (male + female prize).

    You coming?

Yes, got it. You intending to make the gearies feel inadequate again?

If we can get enough SS entries in the StrathPuffer Lite we'll do it again.

I'm going to chase up some sponsorship for it to try to get some good prizes but I need to be able to show sufficient riders.

It would be even better (and more single speedy) if the SS riders contributed prizes. None of the 'Puffer Lite entry fee goes to the SS race so prizes to date have been coming out of my pockets - which I don't mind, but it restricts how much spend there is because I'm a tight Scotsman.
