Idea! "Say My Name B...." 04' PW SS Name?

    Hey guys and gals.

I'm looking for name suggestions for the Phil Wood 04' SS rig.
It will be steel, EBB, Disc, Powdercoated...

Another question. Should it have V-Brake mounts too? or keep it clean with disc only?

Any and all input is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Brent at Philwood dot

I'd keep the v-brake mounts just for versatility... although I personally would not use them. As far as a name is the bike only going to be available in one color - or color of choice? You could go with Casper if white, Green Lantern -if green... Ferocious Beast if orange.. etc.... I'll come up with a better name after I mull it over....

how about the obvious- 'Got Wood?'

if it was my bike and I planned on keeping it a while, I'd forget the V mounts. That's just me.

That's the shiz right there. "Got Wood". Hell yeah.

And dude, disc only. I mean, seriously. How many people who buy that frame are NOT going to be putting discs on it?

    disc only.

"got wood?" is funny but do you want give a bike a name that is not only a phrase but a question? it seems awkward.

you could call it the "hard one," i suppose, if you're into the "phallic bike name play on words." at least then it isn't a question.

    Disc vs. Vee mounts:

One or the other. Not both. It should look like it knows what it is going to be, not as though it isn't sure.

I just feel that a tribute to the oversized Cartwright brother is long overdue. And I'm sure

Got to have a classy, er... classic name like........

    " Woody"

    1.Represents the founders name.
    2. Subliminal message we all love.
    3. Reminiscent of the olden days of single speed.

    4. Acronym for Why Only One Dude? Yo!
    W O O D Y

Disc or Vbrake - it wont matter if you got the Woody.....cuz you would have it all....

Personally I would have no use for canti mounts, and I find they detract from the form, but the weight weenies will want it. However, since it is steel, and the # of people you turn off due to lack of canti mounts probably ~ # you turn off because of canti mounts...

    Steel-one (or "off")
    Fe'eBB-off

    whatever...

    How about Woody Dewer
    Pherrocious
    Curves of Steel
    COSS (Curves Of Steel Simplified)

    Newly added:

FESS OFF or FESS UP - Ferrous EBB'd Single Speed
    FED UP - Ferrous EBB'd DIsc-equipped

I'd keep the V's but that's just me since I don't have discs. Either or isn't an option?

    Other classic names.... such as.....

    A few of my favorites....

    1. The Rotater ..... with chain stay decals such as ... sit on it

    2. RockHard ..... Spoof of the Specialized Hard Rock... this not being a production bike and all

    3. Pu-Tang ..... Some say it was inspired by the Astronauts..... Tang portion at least....

    4. Phil Wood ClaSSic ..... Have the SS in red and the balance of the letters in black.

    5. ASSbite - An Italian word without definition... ASS - be- tay....weak, very weak, I know...

    You could call it...

...the "Twist Off," as in the great dilemma facing singlespeeders: pop-top, or twist-off?

Besides, that would have the same sound as the previous two names, and hint at the EBB's function (of twisting to take up chain slack).

Bushnell ebb, wedge type bb shell, seems to be the most soughtafter ebb,
Black chrome for finish, or black chrome/deep red fade paint,

    "One Off", disc only

"One Off" or just a simple Phil Wood sticker on the downtube.

Sorry, but I wouldn't even consider it if it had v-brake bosses. Nor unless I could get it with a matching disc-only steel fork. I suppose a powder-matched Kelly would work. OTOH, if you build it the way I want, I'll send you the cash today. Classic yellow and square taper please. What kind of steel? 853? [heads over to Sycip.com]

Don't forget about fat tires. Not many SSers willing to live with 2.1s in the rear these days.

    OK, heres my input.......

    "Slartybartfast"?
    "Ferocious Bugblatter Beast"?

As for rear brakes...NO! sell it as a front brake only fixed, much better looking!

My last suggestion, then I am off to bed....

I suggest we just have a nice painted panel and use the letters "SS" in a nice color.

This would be a cool way of just telling the world what you do. If they cant read or understand the two simple letters, then they must ride geary's.

Think of it as a retro decal from the 60's... like the Chevelle "SS" or Nova "SS"

Clean, no frills, just the way I like em.....

what about a 29er? (ill wait for flames from y'all)

as for the disc idea, is there a way to have stealthy rear v brake mounts?

obviously, you can remove the brake bosses, but can you recess the boss holes?

as for the name, shouldnt it be something like the kiss off and the piss off? then again, you have to worry that it might start to sound like the bianchi names (diss, sass, cuss, buss, boss etc....)

    my useless input.

    Here are some more...

    • I like the no name with just a PW sticker and maybe SS in that retro look
    • TOOFER as in a case of beer, you know... a 2-4?
    • PHILFER - as in PHIL Wood and FERrous

I can't think of anything else worth writing. So Brent, what do we win? I'll take a size small frame if that's the prize!

Another question. Should it have V-Brake mounts too? or keep it clean with disc only?

Any and all input is appreciated.
