    Salmon Creek, Oregon

This trail is in Oakridge, it follows this little creek, a river by Arizona standards. It's rooty and technical in places. I love this trail. I'm riding my fat Surly. Shane is on his rigid Beast.

The trail starts at the Oakridge fish hatchery. It's a shorty, about 4 miles long. It's usually combined with Aubry Mountain or Flat Creek for a longer loop.

Smile This must stop at once!

A part of me has always wanted to live in the Northwest, mostly because the riding seems pretty cool--in many ways, much like my native land of West Virginia, only bigger, more technical, and generally wetter.

When I finished grad shcool I had a couple of opportunites to move to Eugene, Portland, or Bellingham, WA that fell thorugh.

I'm pretty happy here where I am, it's a nice little college town--good blend of progressive and laid-back. decent riding most of the year too. But lately my life has squeezed a lot of the ride time out, and squeezed a lot more stress in. It's one of those times when you just get filled with that "grass is greener" mentality.

So, you keep posting all these great pictures of the places you've been riding out there in Eugene. I haven't ridden in place cool in way too long, and so these pictures seem way too tempting. . .

I just bought a house, man. No fair makin' me wanna move!
