    Road Trip - Tuesday Ride

Had a great ride today dispite staying in some crappy motel on Monday night, did I say how great it was to stay at a friends house in LA and now in Tucson

Our ride leader and host is a friend that likes to do long rides, in fact he is putting on this little ride http://www.topofusion.com/azt/race.php awesome rider and a great tour guide.

We got our sunshine, our long ride, our hard ride, our mexican food, and more fun than we could almost handle.

    Enjoy the pic's:

Driving to Tucson and the Sunshine

The start of the ride, a Circle K parking lot

A few miles of pavement, the smoothest part of the ride

AZ Scott showing us where we are and where we are going

    some SS'ing pic's

I was the only person on a SS this ride, AZ Scott was on a 29" Benemoth & Scotty T on his Reign.

I was a little over geared for some of the super steep stuff but for the most part it was good, the rigid fork worked my forearms today, we just not used to all that technical riding.

    A few more...

of me on the Vulture, man what a great bike for this area... though it was my day for mechanicals and flat tires. Even with slime I flatted 3 times, and again 1 mile from the car. Also had my first ever tire roll off, luckily at slow speed.

    some pic's of our guide

AZ Scott, he road almost everything and was very patient with us and all of our tourist type picture taking, after the ride he download his GPS, 32 miles, 4.5 hours moving time, 5000' elevation gain, OUCH!

    more pic's

of AZ Scott, he's training (if you want to call it that) for the AZ race, so he has been riding platforms which for most of the riding would be pretty ideal.

Great stuff once again Ricardo. I'm jonesing for some sun, but so you know what you're missing, we just got back from the Wednesday night session, with three newbies, including the reporter for the local rag. 17 people in all, and your dog. Fun was had in the sloppiest Whypass conditions in a long time. We had a light rain all night long and the ground was totally saturated from the remnants of last weeks' snow. Good socializing afterwards with Bear Peanuts and, of course, beers.

Great shots Richard. I've been enjoying them all week and look forward to more installments.

Having returned to PDX from Phoenix less than a week ago, I aquired a great deal of respect for those who keep their wheels on the ground out there. Before riding some of the trails around SoMo, I thought of myself as a pretty technically competent rider. Not so much anymore.

    Tucson Rocks

Tell AZ Scott he needs to wear his Zona gear on friday. We are going to need all the help we can get top take down the Badgers.

Very cool to see pictures from the old home front. I have't ridden out there in years. Did he take you out to Chiva Falls (yes a real waterfall in the desert)?
