    rear cog advise needed

I got myself a fully rigid singlespeed a year ago thinking that I would give it a shot on the trails...

Truth is I am clearly not hard (or fit) enough to pass up the full sus and hammer the trails on it.

Anyway I still ride the bike semi regularly on the streets and the current gear ratio is just too low. Im running 32/16 and run out of gear pretty quickly on the flat roads here.

So my question is what is the lowest cog I can go to on the rear?

    Cheers for any advice.

    13 or 14.

Why not a bigger ring? Usually about the same $$$, and it would improve drivetrain life loads.

Yeah good point - only issue is that I have a bashring which is only just covering the big ring.

Need to check if a larger ring will fit without being exposed.

    Cheers for the advice.

If you're riding the bike on the street now you probably don't need a bash ring. For the cost of some BMX chainring bolts, you could lose it.

    $5

For 5 bucks you can get a 13 tooth cog. Why not see how that works before spending $30 on a chainring?
