    A Question of Rubber

What kind of tires do you use?

I have been running WTB Nanoraptor 2.1s for 6 months. They are fast and light with good tread but I am showing a lot of wear on the rear and need to replace it. Summer conditions are approaching with dry loose trails. I am going to Tahoe and the Flume Trail/Mr Toads this coming weekend and think that I may need something with a more aggressive tread that will float in the sand as well. I was looking at the WTB Epic Wolf 2.1 or the Kenda Karma DTCs.

    Anybody have any other suggestions?

I used to stress about tires

But I've transcended that. Now my way of thinking is that it doesn't matter near as much as the tire makers and bike magazines would have you believe. The differences are apparent only if you are pushing the envelope. If you're just riding, the best tires are ones that hold air, especially if you got them cheap in a closeout sale. Right now my favorite tires are $10 Geax from Nashbar. I laid in a bunch of 1.85s, even though I normally prefer a wider tire. Been riding them as rears and haven't had any complaints at all about them.
