QR Rohloff speedhub with surly 1x1?

Does any one know if a quick release Rohloff speedhub is safe to use with a surly 1x1 if tugs are used?

    Cheers

    Andy

p.s if not, any other strong, steel ... cheap alternatives?

I have used a QR Rohloff hub on a horizontal wheel mount (Airborne Ti-Hag). I used an older Shimano all steel QR skewer, the ones designed for the old long slotted mounts. It held find without any tugs, although I did modify a no-name tug to fit a QR skewer just incase.

This was with rim brakes, discs may cause slippage on the non-drive side if the caliper is located at 12:00.

    Cheers,

    Tom

I have used the 1x1 with a rohloff setup and Avid Juicy Discs. You must use the Tuggnuts or other alternative. It works fine but was a pain in the arse if I flatted etc. Better to get a bike with an EBB. It will work fine though.
