Price question on the Specialized SJ 29 SS

I'm a mountain bike noob so maybe you guys can help out. I've been looking at prices for a lot of SS mountain bikes, I especially like the Stumpy 29er, it's listed for $2400 on their website (http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/...nuItemId=9247).

What makes the Specialized $1000 more expensive than say, this Fisher: http://fisherbikes.com/bike/model/rig-single-speed? Would the different fork alone account for the thousand bucks? Better aluminum frame??

The ONLY thing the Spec frame has over the Fisher IMO is the split shell EBB. The Rig is a way better "value for the dollar" bike.

The only differences in the two forks is color and 10mm travel.

The spec brakes are nicer depending on your preference hydro vs mech disc.

The Spec definitely has a nicer set of hubs, but you could buy the rig and buy a custom wheelset cheaper.

I agree with N20. Specialized has better componentry, but not $1000 better. Geo is quite different, so you should test ride them.
