    Paul Word

Anybody have anything bad to say about the Word Disc hub? I'm thinking of having one built laced up to a Salsa Delgado. Looks to me to be the most bang for the $.

    Thanks in advance.

Good hub. I replace the bearings every 12-18 months. Easy to do. Get a WI ENO FW while you are at it.

I have a WI ENO FW on my 26" wheel now (eccentric ENO hub). I'll move it over to the Word once I get my monkey. Although I'll probably need a damn small chainring to turn a 16t FW on a 29er. Maybe an 18t ENO FW is in the cards. I have a shim 18t on my desk now though. Maybe I'll ride that till I destroy it.

Good job! Not that Shig's opinion isn't enough...

but I second the Paul WORD hub. I built that same wheel for my Karate Monkey and I love it. The hub is relatively light, spins smooth, and has never slipped--thus, no need for a chain tug. Have one on my Inbred as well laced to a Sun O Degree light and have never had a problem with either one.

Paul makes good stuff...pricey, yeah, but all in-house and worth it. Enjoy!

(Oops, you asked for any bad experiences... )

    Works well so far

My relatively new rear wheel has a Paul WORD laced to Velocity VXC rims, built by the legendary Mike Garcia @ Odds and Endos. I use a $14 ACS freewheel.

After a week-long very wet and dirty hammerfest in Pisgah, NC (from which I just reluctantly returned), it all works splendidly, though the freewheel is kind of tarnished and I don't expect it to last a whole heck of a lot longer.

(CAVEAT: I *am* having an alignment issue related to the hub, my brake adaptor, and/or my BB7's, but until I figure out what's going on I won't hazard a guess on what the culprit is!)

Brake adaptor? Are you using the Disk Unit? What's going on?
