    Paul Melvin tensioner

    Is anyone using this?
Opinions compared to other tensioners for SS conversion?

It looks very similar to a derailer in design so how's the feel? Any noticable resistance compared to a regular SS w/ a simple loop?

Out of all the tensioning options I have used the Melvin, (or just a derailleur for that matter) has been the least trouble. No creaking, no skipping, easy set up, easy to change gears, etc. Mine does not play well with cogs larger than 18t, it's about the only bad thing I can say about it.
Well, it was a good try.

Coincidentally, I just received a Paul Melvin in the mail today. I have used this tensioner in the past and it works wonderfully. The one I got today will be used for a 2x1 setup. In the past I have also used a Rohloff tensioner but I like the Melvin better.
