    I think he's referring to the chain tensioner on an EBB-equipped bike.

    You should post the text to the ad, cause, as you know, most of us barely can read. Don't leave the point you are making to sheer chance.

    If I was that guy, I'd question whether this is technically an oxymoron or just a moron. Oop. I'm that guy.

    Yes, you are, because the text has nothing to do with anything.

    The bike is redundant. The owner, a moron. You are an idiot if you don't know it is not suspension corrected. (I kid.)

    Ahh, I think the bike is actually a XXIX+G, as the SS version with an EBB does not have a dérailleur hanger.

    At least with a tensioner you won't have the tight/loose spots you do with a normal ss drivetrain. Kudos for thinking outside the box!

    I'd have said tautology rather than oxymoron.

    IIRC, the XXIX+G version was only in black. The XXIX+G derailleur hanger can be swapped onto a XXIX version. Also, I don't see any cable stops in the above photos, which the XXIX+G definitely has.

    plus the XXIX+G always came with a suspension fork, not a non-suspension-corrected, color-matching rigid fork

    I think you are right, but not based on color;

    Yeah, sorry, I was talking about 07 models, specifically. The red on that looks different than the orangish-red on the 07 models. Also, that Reba seems to be an 09 model? The graphics are definitely different. Maybe that's an 09 model. I know XXIXG also came in yellow and maybe other colors.

    You can replace the EBB with Bushnell, my buddy Tim did that with his Alfine:

    Seeing that he has a cassette on there, he may run the tensioner so that he can stop, switch gears (by moving the chain) and continue to ride. Perhaps commuting to a trail head, and then switching gears to ride the trails. All without rotating/messing with the EBB. That's the only logical explanation I could come up with.

    Where are you guys seeing this cassette? Looks like a regular cog to me? Stock XXIX wheels don't take cassettes.

    I have to go with p nut on this all they way. The previous owner apparently was befuddled by the EBB and went with the unnecessary tensioner.

    appears it's on ebay now, and it is three in the rear and not one.

    Sorry, edited my last post. Since there was actually a rear cassette on the bike.
