Oval 104 34t on Trek Superfly SS

    Hi folks,

Have recently had my SS love rekindled via a swobo mutineer I'm keen to build an XC style SS racer based around the trek superfly SS frameset.

I'm up for trying an oval chainring like the black 34t, probably with XT cranks 104 BCD.

Has anyone experience of fitting the oval ring, are standard chainring bolts sufficient to fit it to an XT ring?

I assume I can get correct chain line by using a spacer kit as I hae done previously.

    Cheers for any insight,

    Rev

The 34t uses shorter bolts, unless you're running a bash guard.

I have a '12 Superfly SS, XT cranks and 34t oval ring.

Works with normal bolts. But without spacing the chainring off the crank splines, the chain does rub on the splines just slightly because the chainring is so narrow on the squished sides of the oval. Eventually just wears itself through and works fine.

    Ridiculously fast bike.
