Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! OT: Swobo banner removal

    Hey Campers,

I know this is off topic so I apologise in advance.

Can we please get Swobo to do new banner adds for the top of this forum? I am so sick and tired of seeing that guy with the headband and orange top.

If someone gave me a product from Swobo, I'd immediately think of that guy which is poor advertising not good advertising.

Might seem insignificant issue to most, but when you want to read stuff on here on a regular basis you start to feel like you'd rather not when you see the same dude staring at you in the banner add.

    Rant over.

    Tony

    Heehee.....
When I pulled up this thread, guess which banner ad was at the top. Coincidence, or karma?
Swobo is the Singlespeed forum sponsor. Don't bite the hand that feeds MTBR.

    Idea!

    Send your thoughts to:

    The Man: babaswobo@swobo.com

Absolutely agree with you. Great product, scary ad.

That, or another idea is to just click the refresh button so the next ad style pops up instead...

Agreed - firefox + AdBlock and banners are "poof". Friends ask me, "Where did all that white space come from?"

I just added the source of the banner to my hosts list and now it avoids loading the banner or any banner from the same source.

    Sorry Single Speed sponsor dudes.

I sell advertising for a living, including web ads. There is a good lesson to advertisers in this thread, namely change your message once in a while. This is especially true when an ad employs flash animation. The same repetitious ad, week after week (or month after month in this case) becomes so tedious that it can actually do the the advertiser's image more harm than good.

    Too bad.

Guys, blocking ads reduces the income for this site. It is that income that lets us use this free site. A few ads around the edges prevents a huge white space in the middle.

I have no idea who the guy with the orange top is. I am running firefox with no script. I'll have to look into AdBlock

Yup, t's hard to save the $$ for a pair of their shorts when you keep spending your money on Keebler products.

    Agreed...

That ad is so visually unappealing it has kept me from visiting their site.

See the thing is, as soon as you scroll down...wait for it.....the ad goes away! I know, marvel concept, eh?

That being said. He ain't pretty. What I want swobo to do is bring back the purple haired chick! I'd never read another thread again. Just open the page and stare....drooling....
    Just a regular guy.

Shiggy's right; talk about taking things for granted . . . think about how cool this forum is and how lucky we are to have it. Of course, many minds and cool people together making it possible, but it doesn't happen without $ponsors.

Although a chick with purple hair sounds cool, you shouldn't be staring at the dude any way > you're gonna lose.

How bout stop complaining and try supporting the sponsor by buying one of the top quality products SWOBO has available > wear it, proudly & stop whining about it.

that ghey looking headband dude is the most famous face on mtbr. And yet I've never, ever seen anybody wearing anything by swobo and neither have I seen their stuff in any bike shops for sale. It doesn't matter. That dude rocks.

I never apologize. I'm sorry, but that's just the way I am.

Done that; have tht T-shirt, and knickers, and t-shirt, and t-shirt (since you started riding single speeds........)

    got me hooked.

I can buy the chit and support MTBR even though I block ads.
