Old Pueblo Gearing Question (29er X-post)

Looking for some advice. I'm riding 24 hours of Old Pueblo solo this year on my KM as a single speed. I rode the course a couple years ago on a geared bike but this will be my first race on a single speed (there will be less racing, more "surviving"). Right now I'm set up as a 32 X 18 which I have ridden on some hilly terrain. Wondering what folks recommend understanding that gearing choice is related to strength, fitness, etc. I guess part of my question relates to how the 29 wheel effects the gear ratios but in general wondering if anyone has experience running a 29er SS on the Old Pueblo course. Thanks in advance.

I'll be doing it solo SS as well on a 26" so can't help w/ the 29er. However, I rode the course last year on a borrowed bike at 34x18 and that worked out pretty well. That's the gear I intend to go with to start off. I'll also be bringing down a 20t cog for when things go all to heck.

    Last year...

I got 10 laps in using 32x18 on my KM. Worked out well, except for the part when I slept for 2 1/2 hours, instead of the 45 min. I had planned on...
Good luck! It's a perfect race for you first 24 hr. solo!
