    n'other new one

My First SS MTB conversion. Got an old Trek 800 frame from Craigslist. I was going to give this to my kid sister as a b-day present.....but I kind of like it. Haven't taken it offroad yet. Gearing is 20X40.

$30 craigslist frame; Avid 5 levers ($30); dimension cranks ($40) ; BMX chainwhel ($20)cog & spacer kit ($25); seatpost ($15); tires, wheels, and brakes were old parts from my Gary Fisher Wahoo that were replaced. Old BMX chain lying around--free. Nail polish = $15

    $175 = total invested.

Nice... but you forgot to include the dual lights and the potatoes on each end of the handlebars in the cost breakdown.

and the brooks saddle which pretty much is worth more than the cost of all the bike parts combined.

I am taking her out on the trails tonight. I want to give it a good break in this week to make sure I didn't muff something up.

If I like riding singlespeed offroad, I am going to get something nice for myself. (Considering a Gryphon, Karate Monkey, and a few other 9ers, as well as a surly 1x1)
