North Carolina ride - Dupont State Forest

Finally got down to NC this week for some riding! Jeremy(SandalBoy) and Mike(Lefty) came along for the fun. Of course everyone thought I was nuts riding a SS down in NC, but honestly its was just fine.

Here's a view from the top of "Burnt Mountain", this section is also called the Eastern Slick rock ride since the riding surface is very similar to Moab's Slick rock.

Burnt Mountain is a steep walkup, or mega granny grind for the gearies. This photo does little for the climb

Me on the rock drop, even have my uniform on.

Here's my buddy Mike on the same drop.

Here's Jeremy dropping a rock shelf along a beautiful creek section.

I found this little guy in the middle of the trail, nearly ran him over.

Many thanks to Jason at Carolina Fatz for the trail advice, He's a Mack Daddy of a guy!

Singlespeeding in North Carolina makes me "as happy as a little girl"!

    NC props

I've SS'd Dupont and it is killer SS territory and some nice stuff. Did you hit anything in Davidson River?

    Nice pics!

    We rode...

    "Mullinax" in Pisgah too.

At Dupont we pretty much rode every trail. Burnt Mountain trail was the best there by far. Dupont is a great, easy singlespeed trail with nice scenery.

Mullinax was just ok. The trail guide we used really pumped up the description of the Mullinax decent in my opinion.

Heavy rain at times kept us from riding more. I'm sure we'll be back!
