Newb - What's it all about?!

Explain to a guy who has been TOTALLY out of the seen for 6 years why you're all going crazy over SS? I thought I was old school riding a 21 speed !!

Fun, realiability, less maintenance, quiet ride, simpleness, NO SKIPPING, thicker chain (reliability), less weight, one is all you really need......

Prime8 has the basics down. I'd just expound on the simplicity aspect. There is something amazingly liberating about riding with one gear on a completely rigid bike. It teaches you to be a better rider. It forces you to get the basics right. There is a true joy in riding something that quiet and simple.

    It is definitely addictive.

You'd be amazed at the amount of mental energy one expends with gears; Am I in the right gear? Should I shift now? etc...

I like to put that energy into my pedal stroke instead

    tips:
    1) read the FAQ
    2) do a search. there's a fairly recent trolling here on this board on the same topic.
