    New old SS..

decided it was time to take a snap of my newest ride. It's a sweet steel frame, which i believe came from ernesto - , old manitou fork, and bits from my workshop. I like the stem extension, as it works great if you have a steerer a wee bit short and want more rise.

I thought I was the only one...

I thought I was the only one that had a fork like that. I've pounded that thing for probably 5 years with literally no maintenance. I pulled out the elastomers once to check them, then figured that there was really nothing to go wrong in there!

My frame is similar too. It's on old Trek 7000 alum. job. I noticed that yours has the V type seat stays and not the newer Y or wishbone type. I love my old Trek SS. The only problem I have is that the newer forks, even the 80 mm ones, are all about 1 or 1 1/2 inches longer. This tends to slow down the handling. So if my old fork craps out, I'll probably get a new frame too.

Hey, ride it till it dies, I say.

Holy Cow man, say good bye to your headset with that tall steering set up.

hmm. wouldn't have envisioned problems with the headset, as all the bits are snug up and the extender tightens down like a standard clamp - two on the cut down steerer. inside the extender is an extra long bolt that threads to the star nut, then you slide on your spacers and final stem.
what's your thoughts? no change in head tube angle, just more heighth..
