    New Gear Upgrades Help

Iím looking to change the gearing on my SS. Iím new to the SS world and need help finding a good Chainring and rear cog to replace the one that came on my bike. I definitely want to change the rear It came standard with a 18t and I want to drop to a 16t. Who makes good Cogs?

It cameís with a Bontrager Race Lite Singlespeed, 32T, I plan to run this for some time then switch it out with a 34T and new crank.

Any help for this SS poser would be great

Aluminum is indeed lighter, but will wear faster. SS is also more expensive. I'd go for the aluminum, since I change gearing ratios depending on the ride and the frame (Trying to get a magic tensionerless ratio. I for one have cogs from 16-19 teeth, mostly aluminum (from Endless). I'm still not exactly sure what to use.

How hard is it to change them out? Do I need a special tool?

    diffiulty: easy.

tools: chain whip, cassette remover tool (depends on your cassette lockring) and wrench for your cassette remover.
everything sucks but my vacuum cleaner.
