Need a new chain for my '11 Monocog 29er

I totally noobed it up and FUBAR'd my chain trying to take it off for its maiden cleaning and relube.

What is a good compatible chain? Don't care about weight... just compatibility and reliability. <$20 hopefully.

    SRAM PC850

I have a KMC z610hx, but most SS riders seem to like the simple, cheap, durable SRAM 8-speed chains.

I've got KMC & SRAM 8spd chains on two different bikes. Both work. Get whatever is cheaper.

Agreed, any SRAM 8 speed chain is the way to go. I tried both a couple of SS chains, an SRAM PC1 and some KMC, and they stretched very quickly, and the PC1 made all kinds of weird noises under load.

I just picked up a bunch of PC68 chains on Ebay for really cheap. The best SS and 8 spd chain ever, I am a happy man!

Been running a x9sl chain myself for the past two months with no problems. Basically a 9 speed chain. Some say they stretch but I have sliders on my bike and had to make other adjustments a couple of times so I can't really say I have experienced any stretching at this point. Quite happy with it and it is quite light. But you can't go wrong with the Sram for sure!
