    Need help with handlebar swap

Hey guys, pardon me ahead of time for asking this, but I am wanting to swap the handlebars out on my SS Gravity G29 to some Double Bend Drops and am not sure if they'll work with the stem and brake levers I have and if not what stem and brake levers I'd need. Below is a link to the bars and a link to the bike. Thanks ahead of time for your input and I'll make sure to post up some sweet bike porn of it once I get it setup the way I want it (new bars, tires and pedals)

the bars are made for 23.8mm road brake levers, like what you would see on a road bike with regular drop bars. most of these levers are made to pull regular road brake calipers, so v brakes and disc brakes won't work with most of those levers.

also, you handlebar and stem use a 31.8 clamp and the new bar you are looking at has a 25.4 clamp, so you would need a new stem too, so you would need a new stem.

these are commonly called "moustache bars" and might be pretty awkward for off-road riding. are you looking to build a monster-cross or cyclo-cross type bike, or do you just want something with a lot of backsweep? look for something like On-One Midge bars, WTB Dirt Drops, or Salsa Bell Lap bars if you want something like a drop bar.

Thanks that's what I thought as far as the 31.8 vs the 25.4. I'm trying to set my bike more like this one DF1 | Flickr - Photo Sharing! for mostly urban riding, unfortunately I don't get the chance to/and we don't have a lot of good offroad riding around here and when I do I really just like to stay on the grassy smoother flowy stuff vs dropping down into the the single track runs, there just too rooty, rough, technical and mainly to slow to be a lot of fun.

I was planning on buying a Raleigh Furley to be my main, urban, do-all bike, but that's not going to happen anytime soon now so I decided to just build my SS 29er to be better suited to being an urban assault/do all bike.

I may swap the stem if I can find one that's good and not to expensive either and if its something I think I can do on my own, same for the levers. I'm def going to do some looking at those other bars you mentioned and see what I come across.

I'm liking the On-One Mungo and the On-One Midge and both come in a 31.8mm clamp size so I could keep my stem that I have now.

So I think I'm going to go with the On-One Midge in black, will have to find some levers that will work with my Tektro Mechanical Discs. It looks there are some out there, I'm going to have to research it more and I'm not sure where I want my levers on the flats (horizontal) if it'd work, or with hoods like a regular drop bar set up. I used to be a roadie so I'm definitely use to riding on drops and really like riding on the hoods so it might be nice to have that same feel on my SS 29er, not sure yet.

If anyone knows of any levers/setups, or has any ideas let me know.
