Need a bottom bracket - not ebb

I have been running a race face bottom bracket all summer on my Gunnar Ruffian. I love the bike...but I hate the creaky bottom bracket.

The Gunnar is running Paragon dropouts so I don't need something SS specific. I just need something that is strong and decently light. This is my race rig.

Someone I know recommended a King, but I understand that it requires specific tools. Is it really a great bottom bracket? I have no problem spending decent money on something that is going to last.

You don't need special tools to install a Chris King bottom bracket. However, when I installed mine with RaceFace Evolve cranks, it had more drag than I wanted. Since you can't adjust the bearing preload on RaceFace cranks, I replaced them with Surly Mr Whirly cranks. I have had no problems with the new BB so far. Nice and smooth and it hasn't frozen up like my RaceFace BB used to do in wet conditions.

Sorry...I have Race Face Deus XC cranks. I will have to take a look at the Phil Wood BB.
