    Good job! National Singlespeed Championships

So I am bummed out about not racing the ssw08. My wife and I were ready to rock and roll. But looks like were outa luck!
Anyway I put on a group of races here in SoCal and I was wondering about the participation for a National SS championship. I have a great place to hold the venue and flexible dates. But what do you the racers and riders have to say!

Against the Euros! But, against you other Mer'kans, well, I'll give it a go.

I'd go. I live in SoCal so it's an easy choice, hell I drove to Portland for the SSCXWC. That was the attraction of the Napa venue - close and therefore cheaper.

There already is one at the USA Cycling nationals. Won in 2005 and 2006 by Carl Decker, and in 2007 by Adam Wyatt of Asheville, NC. It looks like this year didn't have the pros racing it because it was on the same day as their XC race. In 05 and 06 I believe it was a different day.

I know it's not as cool and there is less drinking at the Nationals, but making another race and calling it the "National Singlespeed Championships" really holds no water. "We aren't the real national championships, we just made that up. Please come race"

Jason, if not a National Championship, how about a CA State Championship? Or maybe contact some of the other race organizers and make a state series? I'm in either way.

    Henna?

Are you f'n kidding me? If I were ever strong enough to throw down for a national SS race, and WON, better get out the needles and permanent colors, baby.

Jason, first off sorry for missing your race in November. Your races are always a blast and there's good competition, I just didn't have the legs for it at the time. As far as a single speed race goes, who cares what it's called? Throw one together and make sure that it's not the same weekend as any other big races and I'll make the drive down. Oh, and you have to make sure that Mike from Vegas shows up too, I need someone to teach me how to climb hills!

can't we just have a weekend of riding ss? Does everything have to be a "championship" for non-locals to come?

btw, your courses are much fun on the ss (except climbing the dam climb repeatedly..ouch..)
