I would be interested in your comparisons of your Ti Vassago versus the Verhauen.

The Optimus Ti is built lighter. When I get it back from Vassago I'm changing wheels and it should be well under 19 pounds.

That said they handle the same with the only difference being stiffness. The Optimus Ti is Stiffer under my over 200 pound heft.

I'm racing the Optimus Ti and fun ride/ training rides on the VerHauen.

Stunning. Kudos. Why the crank arm change?

The cranks were pulled from another build while I was waiting for the chainring to arrive. Now the XX1s are back on the Cielo.

I was on the waiting list for a VerHauen before they hit the market. Ended up building a Sir9. I would probably be on a Cielo now if they would ever release the matching rigid forks for them. I've seen quite a few of your build threads and it seems like we have similar tastes in steel bikes.

So, what is your final weight? For a steel frame it's a pretty light frame, mine came in at 4 1/2lbs

When the VerHauen was pushed in to race duty while the Optimus Ti was in for warranty a few weeks ago I switched a few parts around and the Verhauen was 19 pounds 14oz with race face next SL cranks, Egg beater 11 Ti pedas, lighter grips and no bell.

I would also be interested in any ride, handling or other distinguishable characteristic differences between the Verhauen and the Cielo.

I am looking for a lightweight, raceable, steel singlespeed and these two are on my list. On paper, they look relatively similar in geometry and weight.

Any significant real world differences that you notice between the two?

    My Vassago VerHauen-img335-1.jpg

I love my Cielo. Its just a nicer made frame than the Verhauen. The finish and attention to detail on the frame is amazing. Its as good as any other high end custom builders frame. The Cielo has a feel or like some people like to say of high end steel frames "a soul" to it. The rocker dropouts are easy to use and look better than sliders. The Cielo has a steeper HTA and it is a quick handling machine. The Cielo also was a few ounces lighter.

That being said the Verhauen is better value at msrp. Its made from the same type of steel as the Chris King. The Verhauen has a more neutral and stable feet to it. The geometry is more of a jack of all trades and a master of none. If I have never been to a trail before I grab the VerHauen or the Optimus Ti.
