    My SS is back!

My SS has been sitting upside down next to my workbench since it was still warm. I converted it to a 7 speed for the winter and never ended up riding it.

Got a new chainring and rear cog for it. And a new wheelset.

Im in love again. I tried somethign new also. Before I used a old derailur chain, this time i used BMX chain, works a lot better.

Second thing I tried is I put two old 32T gears next to the 18 tooth, so now its impossible fo the chain to fall off the rear, so no need for a tensioner. Works great so far.

really? i went to a lbs and asked if i could switch my SRAM chain to a BMX one and they said i couldn't because it was a different spacing standard. i will try at one that knows what they're talking about then.

What the fish man? the width differs but the length between links?, unless it's block chain.

fish man you've got to ask your LBS more question, a bit weird.

BMX chains are too WIDE for some chain tensioning devices.

The chain is the exact same 1/2" pin spacing, just the chain is much wider.

Im not running a tensioner so I dont have to worry about that.

Took it out for a ride.

Went pretty well, feels differnt than before. More "rigid" I think the better wheelset did that.

    Lots of fun.

since then i've stopped going there (now i have one more reason to avoid them), but there are really no good or even decent shops in my area which makes it hard. the only shop who's advice i can trust to be accurate has recently decided to stop selling mountain bikes, so pro advice is an issue (i haven't been at this for so long either)
