Nice. I think you ought to put on some 35mm tires (blueskycycing has some) with some tread and tell us how a tark bike is like offroad. Then tell use how you like the toe overlap.

    It does look good though...

For commuting, I'd stick to 23-28. I've got 38's I occasionally put on, but I don't find it fun for road rides. But maybe your commutes involve trails.

    Happy skidding

I think I've got 26's right now, which is pretty comfortable. Maybe 38's wouldn't be too bad for you, since it looks like you're running a lower gear.

Also, just switched out the pads to Kool Stop Salmon/black. For having only a front brake, it does awesome. Makes the long, steep descents more tolerable.

Had to ditch that 44 tooth gold cheap ring..... flexy!

so geared 38x17 at the moment however the sungino cog holder is pretty slick so i can try a 16, 18 pretty ez

and wide luv bars are nice..... narrow bars how do people breathe???

31c panaracer crossblasters seem faster then the kenda slicks that were on there

I did about 45 miles on crossblasters Saturday. They handled a mix of tarmac, rocky fireroads, singletrack, and sandy dirt @ 45 psi (tubeless) pretty well.
They didn't handle rocky fireroads @ 30 PSI as well

Man, I didn't notice this anywhere so I will say it! That is a huge looking frame! How tall are you? The head tube looks twice as tall as mine (that's what she said!).

Looks nice and I like the bar swap. Go go plastic platforms!

    love it!!!

you ride it off-road yet? i had a fg redline 925 i just sold this weekend that i rode much like you seem to be planning for your khs. with a seatpost rack & small cog it was my commuter. then remove the rack, throw on a big cog & take it to a couple mtb parks. it had 32c hutchison cx tires that worked amazingly well on both pavement & trails. won't hijack your thread by posting a pic.

whenever i unloaded it at the trailhead everybody would think i was nuts to ride it there but that thing worked so nice that it made me look like a much better rider than i really am. last saturday some guy got so fascinated with it he bought it out from under me. i miss it already.

btw...what did you do with your bullhorns? i need a set with tan tape like that for another bike i am working on

look forward to seeing your adventures with your "hipster mtb"...
