    Smile My favorite ss

I took 259 pics on my way to work yesterday. It was overcast and 65 degrees. I enjoy riding the Surly 1x1 the most. My commute is 11 miles, I ride along sections of the McKenzie and Willamette rivers from Thurston to Eugene. I do a little dirt and a lot of pavement. The 44x16 gear is perfect. I have a kevlar belted tires and a mirror. A C-dale messanger bag holds my tools, rain gear and lunch.

The bars are Kore aluminum with a big three inch rise. My fork was never cut down, I like it high. I use a $20 headset with a bike tube seal for the lower race. Everything else is Paul, Thompson and XT cranks. The bb is loose but I don't care, the wheels are Rynolites
I built with DT spokes, no wheel problems in two years of hard riding.

I'm a big guy, 6'4" and 205#, this bike can really take the abuse, I love it's simplicity and good looks. I blasted some of the decals off with a presure washer. It's a Surly, I don't care. I don't need no stinking decals.

Smile SurlySS are just too cool

Here's a pic of my new found friend.

Hand built Surly fixed hub/Salsa Semi rims/DT fourteen fifteen 'natch. TruVativ 180 Stylos (soon to be replaced by WI's finest). Salsa bike! Chainring/rims/stem/seatpost.

WTB Dirtdrop bar courtesy of FlexiFlyer. DiaCompe 287V on the left/DiaCompe dummy on the right. Avid brake. Panaracers finest (!!!) tires....yet! BB is UN-72 square taper...of course. 8^) Legeaters.

None finer, IMO. So Fu King sittin' in the garage. Surly's are SOOOOO spankable!

Edit....(oh! and the PC7-X chain...don't get me started there!!)

Nice pics. I like the one where the surly looks like it's going down for a swim in the river. My 1x1 goes wherever it want's to also . Actually it's usually pilot error.I love my bike .
