looking for a new 29er SS

I am looking for a 29er single speed for under $1000. I would like a long travel fork with remote lockout and hydrolic disc brakes if that is possible under $1000. I don't have any experience with 29er bikes as in which ones are good vs bad. What would be my best options?

    Thanks

what brand models would be good to look at used and which ones should I stay away from. I haven't bought a new bike since 1992 so I am alittle out of which brands are good and bad. Is there a good list of 29er single speeds?

I agree with CB2. Used is the way to go for what you want and the price you want. Most manufactures have 29ers but if I were you I would start by visiting a bunch of bike shops to get a feel for what you want and what feels good riding. From there, start searching for used ones. Gary Fisher has their Rig for $1,500 but you only get mechanical disc brakes. I picked up a used 2009 for under $800. It was a good bike and gave me an idea as to whether I like the whole 29er SS thing. I had that for 2 months, figured I liked it enough to upgrade. At that point, I had an idea as to what I wanted and started upgrading. Only thing I have left from that bike is the seat and rims.....
