    Lighter with a SS

I have an old (1998) cromo 4130 british hardtail. I use it just for light fun riding on the mountains. On the hills it has problems though, even small on ones, as it might be around 34-36 lbs. Do you think converting it to SS will be better uphill because of getting rid of a lot of weight (derailleurs, cassettes etc), even though it will be just a single gear? Thanks.

    Depends on the hills.
When I switched I found the only hills I couldn't climb with the singlespeed were the super steep technical ones that I hardly ever made with 24 speeds.
