    Larger chainrings on Rig

    x-posted to 20er.

I'm looking to put a bigger chainring on my Rig (34 or 36) but wonder about chainstay clearance issues. Has anyone successfully run a 34 or 36 on a Rig? Any issues? How much did you have to space things out?

I ran a 34 tooth Boone on my XTR crankarms

They had to use a wider bb, but I don't know if that was because of the 34 tooth ring or just to fit the XTR cranks on there. I think I had a 112mm on the Gunnar Ruffian I had the cranks on, and they replaced it with a 118 or something like that on the Rig.

I did notice a telltale ding in the chainstay right where the bigger chainring would have rubbed after I picked it up from the shop after installation.

But it worked GREAT. You can see pics if you look on my previous posts when I got the new Rig. I don't have one handy or I'd post it.

I'll be selling that Boone chainring soon though, as I need a 32 on my new Voodoo.
