    kona unit sizing

I need to replace my '09 unit, I checked out and did a parking lot spin on a '17 unit, size "large". I've always been a medium/17.5-18" fit, but this large (with the short stem) felt really good. I'm 5'9" with 30" inseam, the sizing on the kona website puts me on a medium or large. Kona dealers are few and far between around here, before I ask the shop owner to order a 2018 medium for comparison, is there anyone with similar dimensions that preferred one size or the other?

Thanks, but I know and have been comparing stats. I'm asking for real world opinions from anyone who has ridden both sizes.

    Hello,

I'm 5'7" short and have an inseam of about 28" and I have an M size Kona Unit. My seatpost is almost perfectly 1" (25mm) from the limit, so I think size L should be the one for you.

With size M you would most probably have problems with seat tube length and reach could also be short with the stock 60/80 mm stem.

I have a medium am about the same size as you, run a 60 mm stem with Jones loop bars and it fits me nicely. I Could make the large fit but I prefer a more compact ride.

Hmmmm, it seems we have a vote for either one. The shop has a medium on order, when it arrives I'll ride each and compare. The shop will keep which ever one I don't go home with. BTW Kona hooked me up, even though I lost the old receipt and neglected to register it after I bought it, they are giving me a discount on the new bike. Stellar customer service IMO.
