I got my Chariot kid bike trailer the other day and the trailer to frame mount doesn't quite fit around the raised section of fork end on my Surly KM. I was wondering if I could get some thoughts on structural integrity if I were to remove about 1/8" of the bottom section of the raised portion of the fork end (not the section the axle bolt to). I think if I removed that much material the trailer to frame mount sit just right.

This photo is on the opposite side that I would remove, but it gives you a pic of the fork end. The material to be removed would be just about where the curve ends (almost in line with the front of the fork end.
