Saturday Evening..................I think we should get drunk and have a big traditional summer picnic (the usual QQQQ communal feast) [pot-luck style], with a roaring campfire. chaos will ensue with Derby's and naked fire dancing. If it's a clear night.......we could sleep out under the stars.

Whitewater Lake Campground

The Whitewater Lake Campground is a primitive campground with 62 beautiful campsites. Vault toilets but no shower facilities, are available. Showers are available at Pinewoods and Ottawa Lake, about 20 miles to the north. A sanitary dump and recycling/garbage station are provided for campers. Whitewater Lake is available for camping from mid-May through mid-October.

Swimming beach and picnic areas are located approximately one mile from the campground on Whitewater Lake. Children’s playground equipment is located at the Rice Lake picnic area.

Firewood is available for purchase at Whitewater Lake Contact Station during office hours or also at the camp host site at the entrance of the East Loop.

Reservations are recommended from mid-May through mid-October. Reservations must be made through Reserve America (exit DNR), (888) 947-2757. Call for more forest and/or campground information.

Pinewoods and Hickory Woods Group Camps

The group camps in the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest offer a great opportunity for large groups to camp together in a beautiful, natural area. Pinewoods Group Camp offers four large sites that accommodate up to 40 people per site, and Hickory Woods has five sites that can accommodate up to 20 people per site. Each of these camps are within the Pinewoods and Whitewater Lake Campgrounds respectively. The group camps have drinking water and vault toilets for the campers. Pinewoods is open for camping from April 1 through the Wednesday before deer gun hunting season and Hickory Woods from mid May through mid October.

Reservations are recommended from April through October for the Pinewoods and from mid-May through mid-October for Hickory Woods Group Camps.
