    Karate Monkey ?'s

I am seriously considering selling my FS and buying a KM. I have a converted ss but am looking to go dedicated ss and still be able to switch between mtb ss and commuter ss. I am wondering about sizing on the 18" frame. I am 5'11" with a 32" inseam and I'm looking for anyone out there with similar measurements that has a KM. What size frame and stem etc? Thanks for the help. BTW is there any way to copy this post to the 29er board w/out retyping it? thanks

    Fit questions...

...are difficult to respond to. My guess is you have Medio Monkey written all over you.

    i'm

5' 9" with a 31" inseam. i ride the medium and i like it. 110mm stem 5 deg rise, riser bars. my guess is a med would fit you well. like soupboy said, fit question are tough though.

Sure sounds like a medium would suit. Stem length is a personal thing and you may have to try a couple to see what works for you.

As for posting; select text, right click, copy text, go to 29"er board, start new message, right click, paste text - away you go....

I agree on the medium, but...

Measure you effective tob tube on your current ride.

    Measure your standover height too.

I though I would want a large KM till I looked the standover on the large vs the medium. 31.9 or 33. 31.9" is taller than what I am used to on 26, but 29ers are always going to be that way unless you go custom.

that's tough to tell - 16" for me

I didn't have any local KMs to test ride for fit before I bought mine, so I went with the same size of my 1x1 because of Nick @ Surly's advice. I've got a 16". I'm 5'10 or 11, w/ about a 31" inseam. I haven't ridden an 18", but I feel like the 16" is spot on for me. I run a 110x15 stem w/ 1" riser.

    Depending....

....on fit preferences you need an 18 or maybe a 16. I am really simliar in height and inseam and I ride an 18...perfectamundo.

    Med for you

I'm 6'1" 34" inseam and ape like arms. I ride a LG KM with a layback Thomson post and a 120/5 stem. Fits great and I might ad once you ride one of these you will be asking yourself how can a frame this cheap ride this good? I did a lot of measuring to try and duplicate my 26er mostly in the cockpit length and I got it pretty much right on the first time. This is now my only MTB and the only 26er in the garage is my wifes and she would never sell her baby. Careful when you get one of these everytime you go to the garage it will be calling your name!

You need an 18" no doubt. I run a 120mm Thomson stem 95^ and a salsa 11^ swept flat bar with 2cm spacers under the stem. I also run a straight Thomson post with the seat all the way back on the rails. This is a good set up, I do feel like I could use a setback post on my personal fit but I used what I had.

The pic was before I finalized the setup and the stem has changed.

    5'10" with 32" inseam

18" fits me, I have a Thomson setback seatpost which enables me to have my saddle rails in the middle portion of the clamp. Stem height, bars etc. are more personal preference.

    go medium

    I am 5'11" w/ 32" inseam and back when I ran riser bars I ran a 100m stem w/ 5degree rise
    ( I now run run H-Bars and a 110 stem),
I believe if you take time to do a search on the 29er board you will find all kinds of advice on buying and owning a KM. I have just completed my first full year of KM ownership, and I can honestly say it has been the best bike I have owned, I have owned high end full Sussers and full tilt Kleins since 95" and I enjoy this bike the most, if you have any ??? just ask me.
