Isn't the crank-arm lenght crucial as well?

To follow up the thread about gear-ratio.

Are you guys running 180mm's or 175's?

I have had 36X18 on 180mm's since i got my first SS 4 years ago.

    180

At 6'3" I run 180's on virtually all my knobby tired bikes but that's because I don't want to run longer BMX crmo cranks or custom alloy cranks.

There a good discussion on crank length further down in the page http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=20417
