Ibis Tranny 29r vs New Pivot Les

    Hi guys!

Im looking a new single speed bike.

Ibis Tranny 29r or New Pivot Les?

Both compatible with 120mm fork (I use 100mm).
Ibis Tranny compatible with Belt Drive.
    Pivot Les is new model

    etc...

    What do you recommend?

    Thanks!

Just built up a Tranny 29 as belt drive and loving it. If you think you'll want the option of belt drive, easier travel, or converting to a fatbike then take a good look at the Ibis

I remember from when I was comparing the same two frame that the geo/ fit is pretty different between the two. Ibis is half to a whole size smaller for a stated size. I'd have to be on an XL Tranny at 5'9 for the reach/ stack I ride or have to use a much longer stem than I'd prefer on a L and mess up the handling. I'd look up the reach/ stack of your current frame and compare to any new options.

The belt drive thing is cool and the IBIS is slacker. The new Pivot Less I'm sure is nice to but it's like $700 bucks more. That would pay for a nice belt drive train set-up your IBIS. I guess it's do you really want belt drive? I've seen some real nice set-ups at InterBike. One from PAUL's and one from White Ind.

Belt drive is cool but not as cool as an oval chainring.

I was running a Tranny 29r with belt drive fifteen days. I love belt drive, but day after day it was noisy with dry belt. I never used a "spray" to "wet".

I read few positive comments about belt drive.

Years ago, in SSWC one rider with a Nicolai bike broke her belt drive.

About geometry, with my 5'9 I need a Large size Ibis and Medium size.

Both are beautifuls. Maybe Tranny looks more "weird".

Some pictures of "my" tranny 29r medium size with belt drive

I have a Wolf Tooth oval ring I need to try. But yes I've heard the oval works great especially on single speeds.
