    i hate gears

so i got feeling guilty for building up a fun little surly instogator and never riding it so i broke it out today, i think it hates me. I checked everything over a few times to make sure it was all in working order, then set out on my ride. Maybe all that time on my singlespeed is making my legs incredible strong, either that or i need a new cassette/chain/chainring cause my chain was skipping like nothing else. i felt like my bike was trying to kill me, id get ready to pedal over an obstacle (logs roots, rocks etc...), pull up the front end of my bike and wham, my chain would slip sending the fron end of my bike slamming down. luckily my 130mm z5 was able to handle most of the surprises. Either way, next time the gears stay home, im going with my single speed, at least that bike loves me....

This makes my heart hurt. A guy ought to have several bikes, and each and every one of them ought to make him feel like he can soar. Not like he's sore. His bling should make him sing. On his bikes he should fly, not cry.

When it comes to chains, skipping sucks. Good luck.

We don't quit riding because we get old.

Gears are good. Shifters and derailleurs are bad.

Actually, I'm coming to the conclusion that its indexing that is bad. And front derailleurs. I'm not big on them either.

Sounds like you're blaming your geared bike...

...for the fact that its owner doesn't look after its drivetrain.
If you don't like climbing, then my rides are three times more fun than yours.
