... and if we just ... How much (approx) to get a rigid fork polished?

I'm thinking of getting a Surly 29" rigid fork to use on the SS 29'er I'm building up. Just curious as to how much it would cost to get the disc mount removed and the fork polished and what would be a good company to go to?

Hopefully be able to get this rolling!

    Thanks!

    fork work

probably cheaper to sell your fork and pony up marginal difference for a new fork without the disc tab. You can polish steel but it will have to be clearcoated or it will rust. Even then any moisture or contaminate not removed will eventully show through. My experience with paint shops etc is that it will run $20 for the clearcoat and about 1 - 1.5 hours of labor to polish at whatever a shop charges. Typically 50-60 an hour. You might look at having it chromed if you want it shiny. More durable and less hassles.

hey KB, Spicer, webcyclery, and AEBike have rigid forks that will accomadate
a 29er setup. i used a standard Dimension mountain fork for this same thing, and it clears big tires with no issue at all. so if you have the fork, sell it. [email me a price actually] or just buy a dimension.
