    how to convert

I just realized today that my old specialized rockhopper had a cracked headtube. I really don't ride it much anymore and I only noticed when I was putting my other bike back. So I took the busted specialized to the dealer and they are going to give me a new warranty replacement. So I have decided that I am going to turn the new frame into a SS. I have basically no idea how to do this so I need your help. Please tell me what I need to do to make the conversion: what to read to help out, what brands are good, who sells good parts, what gear ratios work well. I live in florida so there aren't too many long climbs. I am really excited to revive an old bike and hopefully really enjoy a new challenge. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

... and if we just ...

webcyclery.com has lots of ss stuff and you can email meantodd there and he will tell you what you need to know. i got a 32t front 16t rear, a surly singulater, the spacers, and an 8 speed 1/8 inch chain, and the short chainring bolts for about $120. i am in augusta georgia and have only ridden ss 3 or 4 weeks and have had no problem with a 2 to 1 ratio.i think a 32/18 combo would spin out to fast for me.by all means build it! since i did mine i cant seem to get off it, and i own a 5 spot, a vt, and a hardtail geared bike but this thing wont let me put it down.
