'04 or earlier ? I can fit a Geax Blade 2.25 in the back of my '04, that's a pretty big tire and there's ample clearance for it. That tire won't however fit in the back of my friend's '03... the chainstays on the '04 are spread at least 10mm wider in order for there to be space for the cool sliding dropouts.

I briefly had a Schwalbe Fast Fred 2.35 on my '04 Unit. No clearance issues with this tire. I didn't actually measure the tire to see if it was actually 2.35, but it looked pretty fat!

Huge Geax Sturdy 2.25, no problem

I can fit a Geax 2.25 Sturdy with the dropouts all the way forward on my '04 ExploSSif, which is the same as the Unit in '04. See for yourself. The Sturdy in the 2.25 is almost like a 2.5, much bigger than the Blade that Ian (Mine'sAPint) is running.

Gravity, not just a good idea, it's a law.
The only one consistently and constantly applied, no exceptions.
