How to add a der hanger to a Hooligan

I have a Soul Cycles Hooligan (www.ridesoul.com) that I want to turn into a 1x9 for a couple of rides into the mountains. I also want the option of being able to take the hanger off so I can 1x1 on other days. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

Maybe a cheapo derailleur like this will work? I've never tried it:

Also, there is the Saint option, but that'll cost a pretty penny!

    1. What source were you using for the POS shimano der?

    2. Do you know if the Saint will work with a regular wheel skewer, or needs a 4mm axle?

    Thanks for helping.

I've seen cheap Shimano ders for bikes without hangers advertised on Nashbar. Depending on your dropouts, the one in drevil's post may not fit though. I'm pretty sure also that Shimano's Hone line uses the axle mount for the rear deraillleur too, and it should be cheaper/lighter than the Saint. And you still have to use Shimano's centerlock discs.

I posted pretty much the same question a few days ago regarding my Inbred which unlike the Hooligan has horizontal drops. The On-One website shows a derailleur hanger that replaces the drive side tugnut but there's no link to an ordering page and I'd like to avoid buying from the U.K. due to the weak U.S. dollar if possible. Anyone know who here in the States might stock this part?

    Big Pig,

Take a look at this, I don't know if it'll work for you, looks like you might have to drill/tap 3 holes to make it work but I'm not sure.

    Tugnut hanger

I have a friend who has one. Page Tryandgetme over on the Dirt Rag SS forum.

Pretty sure he got it at Natural Cycle in Winnipeg MB. Excellent shop for fixed/SS. Tryandgetme got his IRO Mia there and briefly flirted with 1x9.
