Help to find wider handle bar and stem for ss conversion

    Hi Guys
Found this real cool 7 speed BRC Gonzo sitting in the metal pile at the local dump. Great shape once I fixed a broken spoke so I want to convert to first SS. The handle bar is 24" wide and 1" diameter at clamp. I'm sure I'm going to need something wider for SSing.
Any ideas were to look? Also I'd like to know where to get an older shorter stem. The stem is now 150 mm long, I believe it is called a "Quill" stem. Bolt screws down from the top. I'm stoked to get into the game so any help is appreceiated.

if money is not an issue, i'd go to quill adapter route. just make sure you have the right steerer tube diameter measurement before you buy one. you can use whatever stem you want and not being limited to 25.4mm bars when using quills. pinkbike is a good source of used mountain bike parts especially in canada.
everything sucks but my vacuum cleaner.

Thanks guys. Regardless of which way I go with the stem should I be looking for a handlebar with a low amount of sweep, say 5 deg or maybe 11 deg? I know I'm going to be pulling on the bar like crazy and would like the best advantage

    Cheers,

Okay I think I've got it figured out. I googled "quill adapters", never knew they existed, real cool idea. I actually have a 28" wide xc monkeylite carbon easton bar which is brand new off of my wifes ibis mojo and a 90mm ibis stem. She switched to a shorter stem and a dh bar. I'm starting to get excited.

    Cheers,
