    Help

    Over the summer i had bought an 08 GT Aggressor. After doing a lot of XC, I came to realize i hated gears. So after a lot of upgrades and ss conversion, i became content, until i noticed the small thunk or shock to my legs comming from the crank every few crank rotations, and i cant figure out if my chain is not perfectly in line(it seems like it is) or the fact that i just removed 2 chain wheels from my crank and used the middle ring

    I'd check the following -

    Double check the chainline by eye and/or with a straight-edge held on the face of the chainring, then put the bike on a stand (if you have one) and turn the cranks both forwards and backwards to see if the chain seems to be biased to one side of the chainring or sprocket.

    Are you using the standard ramped middle chainring? Check that the chain isn't trying to climb up onto the sections of reduced height teeth (it shouldn't do this if the chainline is ok though). Best idea is to get a SS specific chainring with full height teeth.

    Do you have the chain as short as possible and have the tensioner pushing UP for maximum chain wrap on the rear sprocket?
    Are you using a SS specific rear sprocket or one from a cassette ?

    Check that there are no tight links in your chain.

    That's all that comes to mind at the minute - I assume that it's not the freehub slipping that's giving you this problem? If you have another rear wheel try swapping them to eliminate this.

    or the cassette body is slipping. ratchet engagement is pretty bad especially at sub zero temperatures.
    everything sucks but my vacuum cleaner.

    The master links on my KMC Z510HX and Z610HX chains wear out faster than the rest of the chain, causing a noticeable bump every few pedal strokes.

    What chain are you running?

    I do have one of those kmc chains, and im riding in wisconsin, where really cold weather does mess with my bike(my rear v brake rebounds really slow-thank god for a front disc brake)

    Then I think a new master link will do the trick.

    I think we should all move to FL. I will be going there again on Monday to escape the cold.
