I'm using a spicer half-link and it works just as designed. I was a bit less than a full link over. I use it with a Singleator in the push up position.. No problems 7/8 spd chain is 3/32.

I use one on my converted bike, the half link plus a rig/cog combination helped me get rid of the tensioner. So far no problems with it on a 1/8" (9sp) chain.
