    Greenbrier race (pictures)

Mrs 32seventeen and I raced Greenbrier this past weekend. I took my chances mixing it up with the gearies. I was the only SS in my class.
Here I am out sprinting a geary at the finish.

    I'm finished

Mrs 32seventeen did her first mnt bike race ever in the SS womens class.
Here she is at the start with the blue helmet.

She finished 3rd., which doesn't sound that impressive when there were only 4 starters, but if you look at her lap times, she could have won the womens sport or expert class, and with a SS

Here are the SS mens class blasting off the line.

Middle of the pack in sport I think my actual place was 11th. I guess I will have to train harder.

You missed the other female rider - - Lauri Webber from Delaware of IF fame. She done good.

I heard this story about Eric Roman last night. It seems he not only had a great battle with Travis Saeler at Greenbrier (no SS slacker himself - 4 for 4 victories in 2005), but Eric was involved in a bike/auto accident the week of the race. The story is he was almost sucked under an 18 wheeler and was kicked out at the last minute and went flying 40 feet away.

So, in one week, the man cheats death and wins one of the largest SS races (AMBC Classic, MD State Championship race). When you think of Roman, you think of bad-a$$. I cannot wait for SSWC05!
Thanks to www.weavercycleworks.com for my awesome bike frames!

Lauri did not line up with the others, she waited under a tree (shade) until right before the start. She was the fastest non pro women in the race. She looked very strong.
I did not know Eric was in an accident. He looked fine. I over heard Eric say that Travis pushed him hard. Travis was only 10 seconds back at the finish.
Riders like Travis and Eric are why I took my chances with the gearies. I didn't want to get crushed!
